From Los Angeles
Take the 10FWY past Palm Springs and Indio to the 86S Expressway. 2. Take the 86S past the Salten Sea to HWY 78 and make a right. There is a border patrol check point on the opposite side of the highway here. 3. Take the 78 for about 20 miles and you can make a right turn on any of the dirt roads, but the main entrance is at the Ocotillo Wells Ranger station on the right side also. There is a sign. If you are going for your first time I suggest getting there before dark. It can be confusing to find at night.
From San Diego / Oceanside
Merge onto I-5 north toward Los Angeles . Merge on to hwy 78 east, Turn LEFT onto E WASHINGTON AVE / CA-78, Turn RIGHT onto N ASH ST / CA-78, Turn LEFT onto MAIN ST / CA-78. Continue to follow CA-78. Turn RIGHT onto CA-78 / CA-79. Continue to follow CA-78. It seems confusing but just follow the signs and STAY ON HWY 78 EAST.
From Orange County
405 South to 55 North to 91 east toward riverside- merge onto the 15 South toward San Diego to CA-79 S exit toward INDIO, go left at HWY 79, Turn LEFT onto SAN FELIPE RD / CR-S2, then go left at hwy 78 east.
